PWC Chairman & Managing Director, Tarek Sultan wins top IT awards at the Middle East CIO Summit 2002

Information Technology Innovation Award

Tarek Sultan, Chairman and Managing Director of the Public Warehousing Company (PWC) Group, won the ‘Information Technology Innovation' award at the recently held Middle East Chief Information Officers’ Summit (MECIO'02) Gala Dinner on Saturday May 11, 2002. 
The MECIO'02 Gala Dinner awards ceremony concluded the first day of the two-day summit that gathered speakers from around the world, together with the leading IT professionals from this region. The summit sets out to provide a platform for strategic planning, interchange of ideas, sharing of best practice and open discussion on common issues and concerns that the Heads of IT are facing today.
The Gala Dinner Awards were hosted by Bob Hawkins, Director – PriceWaterHouseCoopers Consulting. 
The award recognizes Sultan as the IT Innovator in the Middle East whose success in a unique endeavor has contributed significantly to the advance of emerging technologies benefiting both business and society.
Bob Hawkins said “In order to be an innovator one needs to take a risk, Sultan has demonstrated this recently through the implementation of ‘The MicroClear Customs Modernization and Decision Support Solution' ”. The MicroClear System is based on the latest Microsoft.net framework and XML web services, and results in tremendous business value and revenue enhancement opportunities to Customs Authorities.
